The standard Denali trim on the Yukon, and both trucks, for that matter, includes plenty of chrome accents around the grille, doors, and windows, with other stylistic details that set it apart from the lower trims. While versions like the AT4 get tougher, more rugged exteriors, the Denali trim takes a different approach by toning down the aggression. Instead of red tow hooks and a silver accent around the bottom of the front fascia, the Denali opts for a cleaner design with fewer parts to stand out. The Denali’s wheels are 20-inch six-spoke aluminum as standard, but there are available 22-inch and 24-inch options, as well.

The GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate Elevates Premium

Moving to the Denali Ultimate tones some aspects of the exterior down even more while still elevating the overall feel of luxury. The most noticeable change is the lack of chrome – the Denali Ultimate goes for more of an understated, sleek look with a blacked-out front fascia and mirrors on the Yukon (the Sierra still has chrome-topped mirror caps). While the 22-in and 24-in wheels are available as add-ons for the Denali, the Denali Ultimate has standard 24-inch machined and painted wheels that certainly stand out from the crowd due to their sheer size that fills out the wheel well.

Performance: Denali vs Denali Ultimate

Premium Levels Of Power

While other powertrains may be available for each model, below are the standard engines for each. In general, the higher the trim level, the better the powertrain with GMC. The Yukon breaks that rule by giving both the standard and Ultimate Denali trims the same 6.2-liter V8, but the pickups give different options that might make upgrading more worthwhile. The Sierra 1500 offers the 6.2L in its Denali trim, but comes with the 5.3L as standard, leaving the 6.2L standard in the Ultimate. The Sierra HD makes the biggest difference, though, as the standard version gets a gas-powered 6.6L while the Ultimate is equipped with a 6.6L turbo-diesel.

You might have to do some digging to discover the differences between the Denali and Denali Ultimate, but the difference in pricing is immediately apparent. While the Denali itself is already quite luxurious for a full-size SUV and the two pickup trucks, the Denali Ultimate takes those features and either adds to them or substitutes them for upgraded alternatives. There are no affordable options on this list, but that’s not the point – both trims are meant to encapsulate the best GMC has to offer.
