Three Bespoke Rolls-Royce Models Unveiled For The Beijing Motor Show
Key Takeaways
- Three Rolls-Royce models unveiled in China inspired by global destinations frequented by Chinese clients.
- Based on the Ghost Extended, Phantom Extended, and Spectre.
- Each model features a unique location under the night sky motif with Starlight Headliner interiors.
- Customizations tailored to younger, more progressive Chinese clients, a market where the company sees growth.
Rolls-Royce has unveiled three special one-offs bound for the Beijing Auto Show, taking the form of Bespoke commissions and the first fruits of the Private Office Shanghai, which Rolls-Royce opened in the country last year as a way to further tap into the market and expand its offerings in the country. The trio is inspired by the “flora and scenery of remarkable global destinations frequented by Chinese clients,” who have to be some pretty high rollers to be able to commission a Bespoke model, although not quite on the same level as those who get Coachbuild models.

Unveiled at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the company says the “Spirit of Expression” commissions are meant to represent the younger and more progressive tastes of its Chinese clients who desire greater individuality from their products with their tastes formed on a global scale. Inspirations for the vehicles came from places like South America, Sicily, and the Philippines, with collaboration from the Shanghai office and the company’s headquarters in Goodwood.
Three Models, Three Designs
Each model is highly unique, but they all share the motif of a location under the night sky. Thus, the interiors feature the brand’s exceptional Starlight Headlining.
The first commission is based on the Phantom Extended model. Named the “Magnetism” concept, it’s meant to represent the ambiance of a Sicilian beach bay under the night sky. It features a two-tone exterior finished in Cala Luna Sand and Kabira Blue, representing the point on the horizon where the ocean meets the night sky, and it’s finished by a pinstripe of Arctic White and Cala Luna Sand.
The next model is based on the new Rolls-Royce Spectre, and it takes inspiration from South America and the vivid tones of the Lantana Flower, which is meant to bring good luck. As such, it only makes sense the vehicle would have the lower panels painted in Lantana Red, complimented by a roof and pinstripe painted by Tempest Grey. The wheel centers are also painted in the attractive red shade, and a softly-lit Spirit of Ecstasy rounds out the design.

The last model may be our favorite, as this Ghost Extended has a gorgeous blue/purple exterior that will perfectly stand out from the crowd. Named “Expressionism”, this model is inspired by Boracay Island in the Philippines, and thus wears a wholly unique shade aptly called Boracay Blue. The color is meant to represent the sky and sea at sunset as the two almost appear to combine. A single Lime Green pinstripe accents the paintwork nicely, as do the 21-inch wheels finished in Orbit Grey and Lime Green.
The Start Of A Beautiful Relationship
These three models aren’t the first bespoke commissions ever produced for the Chinese market, but the fact they were also designed there is the culmination of years of promises the company has made about its dedication to the market. China is consistently the company’s second-largest market, only second to the US, but it’s the only place outside Goodwood and Dubai that now has an invitation-only Private Office where clients can design their own vehicles.

There’s seemingly no limit to the company’s creativity.
This is because the company sees a younger and more affluent clientele in the country than it does in other parts of the world, along with a greater desire for customization. This push for bespoke models has been a great business for the company, which saw its sales rise to their highest level ever last year, so we anticipate a growing number of unique models like these in the future.
