More Than 30 New Mercedes-Benz Products Are Coming By The End Of 2027
Mercedes-Benz has been dropping plenty of signs, both figurative and literal, that hint at an absolutely massive run of new products coming. Spy shots of countless models looking very starry-eyed are a big one. Then, last month, Mercedes-Benz told CarBuzz that “the largest product offensive in the history of the brand is just around the corner.”
A slide on the latest Mercedes-Benz investor presentation made it clear just how many vehicles the German car company is planning. It also made it clear where the car company is applying its efforts. The slideshow indicates that there will be no fewer than 30 new, revised, or refreshed vehicles in the Benz lineup by the end of 2027. There is a mix of gas and electric, and the vast majority will be at the top end of the market.
The First Cars Are Already Here
The product offensive has already started. The official beginning was the launch of the new CLA earlier this year, in both electric and gas forms. The Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series has also been revealed, and none of those are counted in the total. Mercedes-Benz has listed the CLA Shooting Brake as a separate model from the sedan, and put it on next year’s list.
We can expect an even mix of gas and electric cars. Benz says that there are four ICE “top-end” cars coming next year and five EVs. In 2027, the number is five for both types. Top-End for Mercedes-Benz covers AMG models and Maybachs, as well as the S-Class and G-Class. There will be fewer cars in the “core” range, but still two gas and two EV in 2026 and two ICE with one EV in 2027. Core means all C and E models. One new “entry” ICE model will arrive in each of the years, with two BEVs in 2026 and nothing for 2027. Entry for Benz means A and B vehicles.
A Look At What’s Coming
Mercedes-Benz didn’t give many hints in the presentation as to what models might be coming. It did show a new tarped-up rendering of the long-rumored smaller G-Class model, which it called the g45 (lower-case G). Benz also made it clear that it will soon offer driveline flexibility on one modular architecture, allowing gas and EV models to share a platform. This will include a new S-Class that offers both by the end of the decade.
Based on recent spy photos, we’re expecting the run of new vehicles to include an updated EQS SUV, a new AMG S63, a V8 CLE 63, a new GLB, and more. Plus, Mercedes-Benz just revealed the nose of the upcoming next-gen GLC, which will debut in September.
With so many new and revised models coming, nearly everything in the Benz lineup will be fresh by the end of 2027. Current EQ models will be dropped and replaced by vehicles that look more like their gas siblings (and share more bodywork) but even if the names change, electric power will remain. Benz has been spending big money on it, 4.6 billion euros so far this year, up 3% from last year. And Mercedes-Benz needs the refreshes to work, because its revenues are down 9% so far this year, which has cut its net profits by more than half.
