Harvard Scientists Develop Solid-State Battery With 10-Minute Charging Time And Unparalleled Reliability

That is about six minutes faster than the Lucid Air, which is a leader in the production EV segment in terms of charging speed.

But recharge speed isn’t the only area the Harvard battery has proven superior to current battery tech. The Harvard battery, which was built into a postage stamp-sized pouch cell version, retained 80% of its capacity after 6,000 cycles, more than any other pouch-type cell on the market.

This is big news, as solid-state batteries are the next major leap forward for EVs, largely due to their increased range, energy density, and stability compared to liquid-electrolyte battery tech.

The Harvard Office of Technology Development has licensed the tech to Adden Energy, a battery company founded by a team of scientists at said university. From here, we can only hope the tech is developed to the point that it can be used mass-market. The sooner solid-state batteries come to market, the better EVs will be for it.
