Better Than The V10? Listen To The Lexus LFA’s Twin-Turbo V8 In Action

One week ago, we received still shots of the new Toyota Lexus racecar project in roadgoing form, and now our spy photographers have sent us video footage of the Lexus LFA successor on and around the Nürburgring. As expected, the engine note is a far cry from the shrieking wail that made the LFA such an icon, but that’s to be expected when forced induction is introduced. Although we have no clues about the power output or even the capacity of the engine, we do know it’s a twin-turbocharged V8, and you can hear excess fuel being burnt on the overrun.

Two Versions Coming

Very little official information exists on the supercar, but we know that it started with the Toyota GR GT3 concept. It’s understood that Gazoo Racing will campaign a track-only version of the vehicle in some form of motorsport eventually, but the roadgoing version is likely to wear a Lexus badge as the Toyota marque isn’t upmarket enough.

The below spy video indicates that the production version will look very similar to the original concept, and while that’s a good thing, we wonder how much of a unique identity it will have as a Lexus product.
