Alfa Romeo Sneakily Teases The Future Of The Stelvio
2024 has been a tumultuous year for many, but it’s time to look forward and embrace the potential of a new year. For Alfa Romeo, things have been particularly topsy-turvy. While sales figures have been highly concerning and parent company Stellantis has been in turmoil, the Italian marque has at least added a new product to its range in the form of the Alfa Romeo Junior crossover and begun deliveries of its low-volume 33 Stradale supercar. In 2025, Alfa Romeo intends to build on that momentum with new design elements, the first of which – a large triangular taillight module – has now been teased on LinkedIn.
Alfa Romeo Front Ends Will Be Changing Too
Both the Giulia sedan and the Stelvio SUV are getting long in the tooth, so we suspect that this new taillight design will appear on their replacements, with the SUV likely to arrive first (sometime next year; the Giulia is expected on the new Dodge Charger’s platform in 2026). Unfortunately, pedestrian safety standards mean these new models will arrive without the iconic offset license plate holder, while the central Scudetto grille will be updated. The cars themselves will be somewhat different, too, with electrification expected to be adopted.

Another change coming to the brand next year is a new Intensa Series of specially designed trims for the entire range (including the Tonale crossover) after Alfa drastically trimmed its convoluted lineup earlier this year. Due to changing emissions regulations and market demands, these new cars may continue to include V6 power. Alfa Romeo also intends to expand its range of special editions.
Alfa Romeo Wants To Build New Supercars
Take a look at the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato revealed two years ago, and the influence of the 1963-1966 Giulia TZ’s ‘Coda Trunca’ rear end is apparent. That sort of thing will continue in the future. A little more than a year ago, Alfa Romeo revealed that it intends to build its second modern low-volume supercar for launch in 2026, with future products also expected to borrow design elements of cars from the Sixties. With that in mind, this bold new taillight design could act as a bridge between everyday models and classically beautiful modern supercars, providing a slightly retro vibe in the form of a unique lighting signature that is instantly identifiable in a sea of horizontal light bars.

Think of this as the rear end’s version of the Scudetto, and it makes a certain amount of sense. Will it look good? Time will tell, but while we wait, a virtual render artist named Ale Masera with close ties to Alfa Romeo insiders has been given a rough idea of what to expect, and we don’t hate what he’s envisioned as a result. Alfa Romeo said it would choose its new supercar project this year, so hopefully that means our patience won’t be stretched too thinly.
