2006 Lincoln Mark LT Truck With 2,600 Miles Is Up For Auction

The American pickup truck market has come a long way in the last 20 years or so, with powertain advancements unlocking more efficiency and capability, and with more luxurious adornments and trim offerings than you might have expected to find in the past. Everybody wants a piece of luxury now, but 20 years ago, the market for a luxurious truck wasn’t so hot, as Lincoln learned with its short-lived Mark LT.

The Lincoln Mark LT was heavily based on the cheaper and more utilitarian Ford F-150, built to compete against the similarly short-lived Cadillac Escalade EXT that offered buyers an early luxury truck package. Two decades ago, someone bought a Mark LT and then barely touched it, as this example available now on Bring A Trailer has only 2,600 miles on the clock.

Lincoln’s Attempt At A Luxury Pickup Truck

The 2006 Lincoln Mark LT’s 5.4-liter SOHC V8 gas engine is good for an output of 300 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque, sent exclusively through the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic gearbox on this 4×2 example. It’s also fitted with traction control and a trailer towing package. The exterior is finished in Dark Toreador Red Metallic paint, with a contrasted bold chrome strip along the lower part of the body panels, doors, and bumpers.

It also has a keyless entry panel, side steps, fog lights, backup sensors, heated mirrors, a tow hitch, a Leer body-color hard tonneau cover, and tucked away in there is a bed extender. It rides on 18-inch chrome wheels, though the seller notes it also has the original tires. So if the buyer wants to actually use this truck, some new rubber will be in order.

What’s Inside?

Inside, this luxury truck is treated to Light Parchment leather with black piping on the seats, which are also heated and powered, and the leather work transfers over to the door cards, shifter knob, and steering wheel. You also get power-adjustable driver pedals, cruise control, auto climate control, powered windows and locks (still considered luxury items in 2006), a powered rear sliding window, and a CD player with a six-disc capacity. The seller, who goes by the curious name 4byfreak on Bring A Trailer, appears to be a small dealership in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. They’ve done a good job so far answering follow-up questions in the comments on the auction.

The Rarest Lincoln Ever Made Only Costs $25,000

For fans of unique vehicles, the rarest Lincoln model ever produced can be had for a temptingly low price. Whether you’d want it is another story.

Is It A Good Deal?

There are four days left to bid on this truck, and the current highest offer at the time of writing so far is $11,500 after seven bids. That’s about a fourth of the original asking price, according to the original window sticker that’s still with the truck. The Carfax report is listed as being clean with no reported accidents or major damage, though there is a noted “mileage inconsistency” from around August 2012. The current owner says they’ve only put about 50 miles on it since taking it in earlier this year.

So, now is your chance at a very clean and handsome truck that was a little ahead of its time. In 2006, people weren’t quite ready for high-dollar trucks. But today, a $50,000 F-150 is simply called average.
