Rooms feel ‘airy’ and bigger than they are with 1 key tip

Lynch said: “Using one colour to paint a room, specifically light colours, can help to make it feel brighter and airier.

“Painting both the walls and ceiling white helps blur the room’s boundaries, giving it a larger appearance.”

While white is the optimal space enhancer, the look can come across as clinical.

This is why lighter shades on the walls and ceilings are encouraged, but also incorporating wooden furniture and textured rugs and cushions can help to bring back some warmth into the space.

Another key takeaway from Lynch has to do with lighting; she explained: “Using and accentuating natural light in a room can make a huge difference.

“Light, airy rooms can feel bigger than they are while creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere.”
