‘I tried a tiny £12.99 heater that packs a powerful punch’
With the ever-present threat of rising energy costs, staying cosy at home feels like it comes at a premium.
Particularly affected are those households that no longer receive the Winter Fuel Payment, as they look for ways to stay warm for less.
In an effort to keep central heating use to a minimum, people are turning to various gadgets that promises to reduce energy bills while also being able to heat the home.
While not all heaters are created equal, reporter Emma Gill seems to have found an absolute belter, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The Swan Plug-in Fan Heater is now reduced to just £12.99. Despite its petite size, measuring just 5″ by 5″, Emma said: “It punches well above its weight: plug it in, switch it on, and feel the warmth pour out impressively.
“It might be hard to believe that such a small device can perform so powerfully, yet this heater does the job splendidly, offering two fan speeds to control how forcefully it emits heat.
“You can adjust the temperature setting anywhere between 15 to 30 degrees, clearly displayed on its digital screen, and easily manage it with the + and – buttons situated on top of the device. It rapidly reaches higher temperatures within minutes and only activates when the pre-set temperature surpasses the current room temperature, ensuring you don’t use it more than necessary.”
Most importantly, Emma added: “It’s a bargain to run. Switching it on for half an hour to warm up my room cost me a mere nine pence, so even if you wanted to keep it on for three hours, it would only set you back 54p.”
With the average central heating cost of around £1.70 an hour, the little heater offers quite the saving, especially over the colder months ahead.
The 90-degree swivel plug allows you to direct the heat where you need it most and its compact size and ability to plug into any socket makes it incredibly portable from one room to another.
It also comes with a timer, allowing you to set a specific number of hours, up to 12, and it will automatically switch off if it overheats. The Plug-in Fan Heater is available on the Swan website here and delivery costs £3.99.
