How to clean your air fryer in ’20 minutes’ using 5p household item
Air fryers should be cleaned after every use but if you’ve let yours become greasy and dirty then it may need a more thorough clean.
One person who was struggling to clean her air fryer was Lou King. She asked the Facebook group, ‘Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips’: “Hello. Is it ok to use Oven Pride on my air fryer? If not, what do people use?
“Mine has become pretty grim and I’m soaking it with hot water and washing up liquid, scrubbing then repeating and it’s taking forever. Many thanks.”
Lou’s post was inundated with responses and the most suggested method was to use a dishwasher tablet.
Marion Howe said: “Boiling water and a dishwasher tablet, leave for about 20 minutes. Comes up a treat.”
Linda Mary Russell replied: “Try hot water and a dishwasher tablet and leave it to soak. It works for mine.”
Tilly Walsh commented: “I soak a dishwasher tablet in mine.”
Most people will have dishwasher tablets if they own a dishwasher but if you don’t, you can buy them from most local supermarkets.
Morrisons Savers Lemon Dishwasher Tablets cost £1.99 for a pack of 40 which works out at just 5p per tablet.
House 24/7 Dishwasher Tabs cost £1.49 for 30 tablets from Sainsbury’s.
Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans included using soda crystals, Elbow Grease and vinegar, salt and baking soda.
Janine Mallows wrote: “I use soda crystals with a kettle of hot water.”
Chelsey Marie Jones replied: “Elbow Grease do a spray for air fryers.”
Helen Meggitt commented: “I line mine with grease-proof paper it keeps the mess down, try vinegar, salt and bicarbonate of soda, it removes burnt food etc so easily.”
