A household item has previously been recommended for cleaning a wooden fence as well, but for removing algae specifically. Vinegar is a versatile cleaner that performs extremely well on wooden fences, whether they have been impacted by green algae, or have accumulated brown spots.

It is suggested to use a ratio of one part white vinegar and four parts water when cleaning fences.

You can add the solution to a spray bottle, then scrub it away with a brush or rubbing pad.
