Effective communication skills help present complex ideas in simplest ways possible: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister

Payyavula Keshav, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Finance, Planning, Commercial Taxes and Legislative Affairs, has said that effective communication skills enable a person to express his/her ideas, no matter how complex, in the simplest ways possible.
Keshav, who was the chief guest at the 39th annual graduation ceremony of TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), a business school under the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), in Manipal, reminisced his days at Manipal as a student and advised the graduates to build their own professional and social networks, investing time and effort in cultivating these relationships.
Advocating the students on the importance of effective communication skills, he said: “In my own career, effective communication has played a very crucial role in helping me to stand out from my colleagues and opened up opportunities to lead the legislature and public sphere. It enables you to express your ideas no matter how complex, in the simplest ways possible. Communication is not merely about getting your viewpoint across. It’s about the opportunity to influence the other person, to see your point of view, to accept your point of view.”
Keshav is an alumnus from the 1985-87 batch of TAPMI.
Sharad Agarwal, Chief Business Officer, Classic Legends, Mumbai, who was the guest of honour, inspired the graduates by sharing his life lessons on transitioning into various leadership roles.
“You are now stepping into a world of endless possibilities, and you are now also a part of a very exclusive network of alumni who have gone on to achieve great things across sectors, across industries and across the globe. Believe in yourself. Capitalise on what you have today in your hand. Focus on your strength, focus where you can make a mark, in this clutter, in this disruptive word, what will make you stand out is your uniqueness,” he said.
Agarwal is an alumnus from the 1999-2001 batch of TAPMI.
Lt General MD Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, presided over the convocation ceremony. Rajeev Kumra, Director of TAPMI, presented the institute report.
TA Pai young achiever awards were felicitated to gold medallists from the five MBA programmes. The award constituted ₹2.5 lakh cash prize, gold medal and certificate. Ishitha Chugh, MBA (Banking and Financial Services); Desai Chiraswi, MBA (International Business); Shrindhi S, MBA Core; Uppala Meena Srisha, MBA (Human Resources Management); and Pranav S, MBA (Marketing), were awarded based on academic merit.
Titan of the year award for the best overall graduate was felicitated to Apoorva Chandgothia, which included a cash prize of ₹1 lakh and certificate.
A total of 524 students in the 2023-25 batch graduated, with 347 students from Core MBA course, 59 students from MBA (Banking and Financial Services), 43 from MBA (Human Resources Management), 50 students from MBA (Marketing), and 25 students from MBA (International Business).
