Best Sedans Under $50k | 2025 Ratings

You face few limitations when shopping for a sedan under $50k in the USA. There are numerous luxury and performance models on offer, as well as hybrids and EVs. Only the top-end premium and sports cars are out of reach as they approach and cross the six-figure mark. With a bigger disparity between prices to play with, you can focus on a single area such as affordability or practicality, or you can opt for something that presents a combined approach. Pushing up against the cost ceiling, you can even find models that manage to deliver excellence in a number of fields, which is evidenced by our rankings of the best sedans under $50k in 2025.

Vehicles are assigned a BuzzScore in relation to their direct segment competitors, and as such, vehicles in this list, while similarly scored, do not necessarily compete directly against one another. Kia K5

2025 Kia K5

Base MSRP

$26,990

Engine

2.5L Four-Cylinder | 2.5L Turbo Four-Cylinder

Horsepower

191 hp (2.5L) | 290 hp (2.5T)

Despite undergoing some key changes for the current model year, the 2025 Kia K5 remains as one of the best-value sedans out there. Most notably among the changes is that Kia has dropped the 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, in favor of a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter unit – of which a boosted version with 290 horses is available as an upgrade. While it does kick off at $26,990, our $50,000 budget here means we can stretch for the flagship GT and EX, the prior of which sports all-wheel-drive as standard, in addition to the more potent engine.

In terms of tech, though, the EX is where it’s at, with a panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch dual displays, 12-speaker Bose audio system and 10-way adjustable front seats included as standard. Pricing for the EX begins at just $34,690, so even lined with extras and options, it comes in way under budget.

Nameplates like Accord, Altima, and Camry have longer track records to rely on, but the Kia K5 enters as a healthy alternative with an attractive price point and even more attractive bodywork. Kia manages to undercut the competition on price without the K5 feeling in any way “lesser” than its competitors.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 starts off at just $37,750, but with a $50,000 budget it makes sense to spring for either the SE or SEL grades – although at $51,100, the flagship Limited model sits just out of reach. Buyers are provided with the option of either a rear- or all-wheel-drive platform when configuring SE or SEL grades, with the latter sporting a $3,500 premium, but still checking in within the confines of a $50,000 budget.

The sleek Hyundai also comes equipped with dual 12.3-inch screens as standard, in addition to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM and HD Radio, plus high-quality materials and a well-designed, ergonomically pleasing cabin. All of this, and an impressive range of up to 342 miles, is what makes the Ioniq 6 one of the best sedans for under $50k in 2025.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 shows off the brand’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings while maintaining affordability. It looks sleek and upscale with unique styling and delivers a smooth, responsive ride that drivers and passengers alike will enjoy.

$24,250

2.0L I4 | 2.0L I4 hybrid

Horsepower

150 hp (2.0L) | 200 hp combined (hybrid)

A modest starting price of only $24,250 means that buyers of the 2025 Honda Civic Sedan with a $50,000 budget can really go as wild as they like when specifying their dream car, as selecting the highest grade possible and blindly selecting all desirable options still leaves plenty of money in the bank.

It’s the Sport Touring Hybrid that commands the highest MSRP, at $31,950, and as standard, comes equipped with Google Built-In, leather-trimmed seats, a premium Bose sound system, and a 200-horsepower hybrid powertrain.

4

Toyota Camry

2025 Toyota Camry

Base MSRP

$28,400

Engine

2.5L Inline-4 Hybrid

Horsepower

225 hp (FWD) | 232 hp (AWD)

Much like the aforementioned Civic Sedan, the 2025 Toyota Camry is another one of those sedans under $50k that can be picked up at the highest specification possible and still not come close to busting the budget. The range-topping XSE grade starts at $34,900, and comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, dual 12.3-inch displays, a 225-horsepower hybrid powertrain and all-wheel-drive as standard, while lesser models are driven by the front wheels only. The Camry is the CarBuzz Car of the Year for 2025, which is as much praise as we can bestow on any car – it’s that good.

The Camry looks great, has a premium interior, and you now get more than 50 miles to the gallon. What’s not to love? Toyota took a car that could already sell itself based on its name and elevated it to market-leading status. The Camry is the ideal car for most of America.

Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class

A $50,000 budget allows shoppers to look past more budget-orientated brands, and start considering more inherently luxurious brands. The 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is an example of this, with the CLA 250 sporting an MSRP of $44,400, or $46,400 for the all-wheel-drive 4Matic version. These are the only non-AMG trims currently available, and while the CLA 35 and 45 models are brilliant in their own right, they are priced notably north of $50,000.

Despite not sporting the all-important AMG badge, the CLA 250 models are swift enough for daily driving, thanks to a 221-horsepower mild-hybrid powertrain, enabling the humble CLA to crack 60 mph in a respectable 6.3 seconds, while returning up to an EPA-rated 36 mpg.

Base Trim Engine

2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged mild-hybrid

For decades now, BMW’s 3 Series has been an industry-leading sedan, and the 2025 BMW 3 Series is no exception to that rule. While not cheap, at $45,950 it’s still affordable for many, plus it comes well-equipped as standard, with both 12.3- and 14.9-inch screens, premium materials, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. While the powerful M340i trim will no doubt appeal to enthusiastic drivers, those with a $50,000 budget will be limited to the lesser but still lively 330i model, which sports a 255-horsepower inline-four.

7

Cadillac CT5

The 2025 Cadillac CT5 sports notable upgrades over previous model years, such as revised esthetics, a fully overhauled infotainment system, a new AKG premium sound system, plus a reduced selection of trims, with only two now remaining. Both trims, the Premium Luxury and Sport, come in at just under $50,000, meaning shoppers can pick between either – both of which sport a 237-horsepower inline-four engine, 10-speed automatic transmission, and the choice of rear- or all-wheel-drive. A striking and curved 33-inch display dominates the cabin, which is finished in the usual high-end materials one would expect to find lining a $50,000 Cadillac’s cabin.

8

Honda Accord

2025 Honda Accord

Base MSRP

$28,295

Base Trim Horsepower

192 HP @6000 RPM

Base Trim Engine

1.5L I4 ICE

One of the more value-driven mid-size sedan choices available right now is the 2025 Honda Accord, which is available well under budget – even the flagship Touring Hybrid model checks in at just under $40,000, meaning there is plenty of money left over to personalize the Accord with various options and extras. A selection of cost-extra exterior colors and 20-inch alloy wheels help to eat away at the remaining budget, but truth be told, the higher Accord trims are impressively finished as standard, and represent excellent value for money in 2025.

2025 Audi A3 Sedan

Base MSRP

$38,200

The 2025 Audi A3 Sedan is a stylish subcompact that represents an affordable way into premium motoring, thanks to a starting price of $38,200. As standard, a 201-horsepower 2.0-liter engine powers the front wheels, although Audi’s iconic Quattro all-wheel-drive system is available as a cost-extra option. As standard, the A3 Sedan is equipped with 17-inch V-Spoke alloy wheels, LED headlights, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof and S-Tronic automatic transmission.

Quattro adds $2,600 to the price, while optional paint colors, larger alloy wheels and various tech add-ons happily eat away at the remaining budget.

10

Cadillac CT4

2025 Cadillac CT4

Base MSRP

$34,995

Base Trim Horsepower

237 HP @5000 RPM

Base Trim Engine

2L I4 ICE

As most will be able to deduce, the 2025 Cadillac CT4 sits just below the CT5 in Cadillac’s lineup, which means it’s notably more affordable, as evidenced by the $34,995 starting price. Unlike the CT5, Cadillac has not heavily revised the CT4, which means the exterior looks a little lackluster in comparison to fresher models, and the interior tech isn’t quite up to scratch with what the CT5 and some competitors have to offer.

However, the CT4 still sports a luxurious interior, trimmed in high-quality materials, and the 237-horsepower powertrain will feel livelier in the CT4 than in the larger CT5, which should please those who prefer a dynamic drive.

Characteristics Of Sub-$50k Sedans

It is hard to find specific similarities between the different cars ranging from $15k-$50k aside from having four doors and an engine. But, there are certain expectations as you approach the $50,000 mark.

  • Performance: You can get your hands on some pretty high-performance vehicles, with some of the fastest sedans under $50k including sporty models like the Mercedes CLA and Audi S3. Small-capacity turbocharged engines help keep costs down while still delivering great power outputs. Most of these are small cars, too, so that helps with handling.
  • Features: Since you can get a luxury sedan for under $50k, there aren’t too many features that aren’t available at this price point. Dual- or even tri-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, and electrically assisted seat adjustments are all common features that help make these cars more comfortable. The infotainment and safety suites are usually quite extensive, too.
  • Value: Obviously, a defining quality of these vehicles is that they won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Yes, it’s still quite a lot of money, but many of the top sedans under $50k deliver a lot more value for money than a six-figure model would. Similarly, a cheap $20k car might cover most of the bases and arguably deliver better value, but it also comes down to where your priorities lie. If you want a good combination of performance, comfort, safety, and practicality, it’s hard to beat a midsize 4-door sedan approaching the $50,000 mark.

What To Consider When Buying A Sedan Under $50k

Sadly, you do need to spend a lot more money if you want to approach automotive perfection, so cars that cost less than $50k are still going to require some compromise. Sure, they have their strengths, but there will be a few weaknesses that you’ll have to weigh to determine which model will be the best for you. But knowing what to look out for will help you capitalize on the good and minimize any shortcomings.

Pros

  • Tons of variety, so don’t settle for the first shiny car you see
  • Many top-tier trims from mainstream brands are extremely reliable
  • Great balance between cost, comfort, and drivability
  • Generally good fuel economy and practicality

Cons

  • Fewer fully electric options
  • True status executives are still out of reach
  • It’s easy to get distracted by models that excel in a single area
