Assuming prices stay the same (as of this writing) heading into the new year, the Model 3 RWD will cost $38,990 while the Long Range starts at $45,990. As for the Model Y, those cost $43,990 and $48,990, respectively. Oddly, the Performance models should still qualify for the full $7,500 credit. This means the Model 3 Performance’s $50,990 price could effectively be brought down to $43,490 and the Model Y Performance’s $52,490 price would go down to $44,990, making them cheaper than the Long Range Versions. We doubt Tesla would ever allow the top model to be less expensive than the mid-range version, so a pricing correction will likely take place in January.

It’s worth noting that all of these prices are for the old Model 3, as the facelifted Project Highland model is not yet on sale in the US. The Highland offers a sleeker body, improved range, and an updated cabin.
