How to banish limescale from sink with ‘life changing’ kitchen roll hack

Limescale, the bane of many households, can be a real hassle to remove despite an arsenal of expensive cleaning products at your disposal.

Originating from mineral deposits found in hard water, limescale can rapidly accumulate, leaving a white, crusty residue that spoils the look of your sinks, kettles, showers, and taps. Although it’s not a health hazard, limescale is unsightly and can significantly reduce the lifespan and efficiency of your appliances.

Commercial limescale removers can burn a hole in your pocket, with some products like the HG limescale remover from Tesco costing you £4.50 for a mere bottle. But fear not, as there’s a far more economical solution that’s just as effective….

TikTok sensation and travel enthusiast Lou Lou, who goes by the handle Lou Lou Explores, paused her globetrotting adventures to address the limescale invasion in her sink. Residing in an area notorious for hard water, she noticed her stainless steel draining board had succumbed to a layer of persistent limescale.

“So I’ve got some spirit vinegar or white vinegar whatever and we’re gonna literally just lay down some,” she explained, liberally applying white vinegar over the sink. Lou Lou then strategically placed kitchen towel over the limescale spots, pressing firmly to ensure contact.

“The reason we do it like this is because if you just pour white vinegar on the side it can’t soak,” she explained. “It would evaporate really quickly.”

After letting it sit for nine minutes, Lou Lou removed the drenched kitchen towel from the sink and effortlessly wiped away the remaining vinegar with a soft sponge.

“Are you crazy? Are you mad. Are you seeing this? Look at that,” she exclaimed, proudly displaying her gleaming sink.

The cleaning community has been buzzing in the comments section, praising the ingenious tip – with loads of them passing it on to their nearest and dearest. “Not to be dramatic but this is life-changing! ” one enthusiast gushed.

Another chimed in: “Wooooow. I’m trying this tomorrow.”

Snag yourself a bottle of white vinegar from any major supermarket or online shop. Morrisons is offering a litre of this versatile cleaner for a mere 99p.

And if you’re hunting for some kitchen roll, Morrisons has got you covered with a jumbo-sized roll for just £1.19, matching the prices of Aldi and Lidl.
