Fans think they have figured out Metroid Prime 4 release date following Kirby Direct | Gaming | Entertainment

After the latest Nintendo Direct conference earlier this week, the majority of previously announced Nintendo Switch 2 games for 2025 have a release date. Despite fears that the game had been pushed back and delayed, Nintendo recently announced a November 20 release date for Mario Kart Worlds rival Kirby Air Riders. As fans breathe a sigh of relief that the anticipated Switch 2 game finally has a release date, there are, however, two big Nintendo games that don’t have a release date.

Fans are still waiting to find out when first-person adventure game Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch, as well as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Despite the lack of official announcements from Nintendo, some fans think they have figured out when the Metroid Prime sequel will make its debut.

In a post on Reddit, one hopeful Nintendo fan speculates that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond may launch in December.

Nintendo typically releases one high-profile first-party game each month, which means Metroid Prime 4 could end up launching in December.

The Switch 2 launched with Mario Kart World in June, followed by Donkey Kong Bananza in July and Drag X Drive in August.

Pokemon Legends Z-A is scheduled to launch in October, while Kirby Air Riders has been announced for November.

With a surprise September release date unlikely given we’re already nearing the end of August, this means Metroid Prime 4 is most likely to launch in December, especially as it’s still listed for 2025 on the Nintendo eShop.

The only thing that makes me think it will launch sooner is the fact that Metroid Prime 4 was recently given an age rating by the US certification board.

Likewise, as others point out in thread, the game could also launch during the same month as another Switch 2 game. After all, Metroid Prime 4 and something like Kirby Air Riders are so different that they wouldn’t really be competing for the same audience.

Either way, let’s hope Nintendo holds another Direct conference soon, because we really want a Metroid Prime 4 release date.

Metroid Prime 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 version will feature various upgrades, including faster frame-rates, enhanced visuals and support for the console’s mouse controller.

The mouse controller works really well for Metroid Prime 4, making it much easier and faster to pick out individual targets.

Players will explore Planet Viewros, where they will battle a rival Bounty Hunter named Sylux.

Samus will be able to draw on a new selection of psychic abilities when battling the new rival and enemies.
