Grout is a nuisance for homeowners to clean and grime can be difficult to keep at bay. Once it has grown between tiles in bathrooms and kitchens, it can be very hard to get rid of and many people spend a considerable amount of time scrubbing it. But there are hacks, such as this one, that you can use to get rid of dirt between tiles. While many people will go straight for bathroom specific cleaning products, there is one thing lying around your house that you can use.
According to experts, dish soap does wonders for cleaning bathroom grout. Bathroom experts from Vidalux.co.uk shared six effective ways to clean build up from grout and bring it back to life, inclusing simply using your dish soap. Using dish soap is a great way to get rid of stubborn dirt as one particular property helps lift grime in one of the most difficult-to-clean areas of the house.
A spokesperson for Vidalux said: “Grout can be a pain to clean because it’s a porous material, meaning that it easily absorbs water, dirt and other soapy residues. These substances then settle into the tiny pockets, making them difficult to remove.”
One of the tips they shared is using dish soap. They revealed: “Dish soap is designed to break down grease, and its bubbles help to lift away grime and dirt. When mixed with water and applied to grout it can be effective at loosening and removing built up residue. cleaning your grout when rubbed in circular motions mixed with water to activate.”
Meanwhile, there other hacks that prove to be just as effetive, one of them being using shaving foam. According to the bathroom experts, shaving foam can be left on the grout for ten minutes before you should “begin to gently scrub the grout to remove dirt” or great results.
One of the other tips is to use vinegar which can “help break down dirt alone”, and can be made “extra powerful” when it is mixed with bicarbonate soda.
“Sprinkle some bicarbonate soda onto the grout before spraying on some vinegar and letting it fizz. After the solution has sat for 10 minutes scrub clean,” they advised.
Additionally, they say that home cleaners can steam grout to help lift off dirt.
